For 37 years, Mike Yung had been sharing his incredible voice with strangers in the subway stations of New York City, never giving up on his dream of becoming a successful singer. Despite spending decades performing underground, he continued to believe that one day he would get the opportunity to show the world what he could do. When he finally stepped onto the America’s Got Talent stage, he was ready to prove that his dream was still alive.
For his audition, Mike chose the timeless classic “Unchained Melody” by The Righteous Brothers. From the very first notes, his powerful, soulful voice filled the room with emotion. His performance revealed not only his remarkable vocal talent but also the passion and life experience behind every note. The audience was captivated, and the judges were clearly impressed by his extraordinary delivery.
After the performance, the judges shared their thoughts, with Simon Cowell expressing his admiration for Mike’s voice and potential. Although Mel B was not convinced and voted against him, the other judges gave him the opportunity to continue his journey. For Mike, this audition was much more than a performance — it was a chance to show that no matter how long the journey takes, it is never too late to chase your dreams.
